Title: Probabilistic Algorithms for Fundamental Problems in Distributed Networks

Abstract:
This talk presents representative topics from our recent research on foundational aspects of modern networking. The first part refers to the emergence of global network properties via local, randomized algorithmic decisions, in distributed ad hoc networks of tiny, smart sensor nodes; in particular, we address the energy balance problem. The second topic discusses a new paradigm for wireless networking we have recently introduced, that of radiation awareness, i.e., to understand and control the cumulative electromagnetic radiation people are exposed to in the context of abundant, heterogeneous wireless environments. The final part of the talk presents some of our recent research in evolutionary graph theory.
